SHOP/REVIEW Brighten up the Face with lovely shades from Make Up Store

One of my favourite makeup brands is Make Up Store. The most colours have a longwearing finish, which is a must for my oily lids and dry cheeks. In the past months, I’ve been having fun with a few products from their last launch. Here are three products that I find easy to use and practical and enhance my features:

Make Up Store Eyepencil Duo in BLUE PIGMENT, $27

An all-new long-lasting Eye Pencil Duo with 2 shades, Blue Pigment is a pencil with two shades, both light and dark blue. Depending on the angle you hold the pencil, you can have two different shades of matt blue on your eye in just one stroke–by applying the tip of the eye pencil almost vertically. Extremely easy for inner and outer line application with just one glide. Alternatively, tilt the eye pencil to apply on the side of the tip for your preferred shade. Blend for a softer look using an Eyeliner Blending Brush for best effect.

REVIEW

I love this eye pencil for the sexy soft look it gives my eyes. What more, tilting the pencil at various angles will give me different intensity of blue. The pencil is easy to use and great only on upper eye lid. Smudge the blue penciled in line a little with your ring finger to achieve a soft finish. For oily eye lids, avoid using under the eye as the colour slides off easily. Bring a cotton bud to clean under-eye smudges, if needed.

Make Up Store Duo Lipstick in GRAPHIC, $29

Nourish your dry lips with shea butter and avocado oil while giving them a touch of longlasting colour. This new DUO lipstick in Graphic is a soft pink duo lipstick with a nude colour in the core. These two shades give an instant 3D finish to the lips.

REVIEW

At last a lipstick that offers longlasting lip colour without leaving lips tight and dry. I took a sip of water while wearing this lip colour and found that the lip stain on the cup is less than my regular lipstick.

Featuring a sensational combination of bright pink, red and purple tones to create multi-toned blush that offers a beautiful blend of intense cheek colour.

REVIEW

My other favourite from Make Up Store is this blush that gives my cheeks a three dimensional finish. The blusher lasts through the day, leaving me with healthy pink cheeks even when I am feeling low. A little goes a long way, so dust off excess powder onto a tissue before accentuating cheeks with it.

REVIEW:

The mousse cream has the comforting scent like a baby’s talcum powder. And it seems to leave a light but matte film on the skin to seal in moisture and protect it. Best for those with dry skin. The comforting scent lingers on for hours.

SHEA BUTTER WHIPPED HAND CREAM, $15 (30ml)  Limited Edition

The Shea Whipped Hand Cream has a playful yet smooth texture. Made with a high concentration of shea butter (25%), it helps to nourish, protect and soften the skin.

What makes it great?

Other than shea butter, it also nourishes and protects skin with shea butter oil.

How to use?

Use at any time of the day and as often as necessary

1 Use it immediately after washing your hands to maximise benefits.

2 After towel-drying hands, massage a small amount onto the backs and palms of your hands with large circular motions. 2 minutes of gentle massage will allow the cream to penetrate the upper layers of your skin for immediate comfort

3 Take time to work the formula into your fingers, over your knuckles, and on the dry areas between your fingers

4 Massage excess cream onto each finger, from the top of the knuckle down to the ends of your fingertips

REVIEW

The hand cream smells less powdering than the Shea Butter Whipped Hand Cream and has a lighter texture. The hand cream softens both my skin and the hang nails. The dry and white hang nails seem to disappear after my hands are moisturised.

If you are a person into details, you would also notice that the cream that this squeezed out of the tube has a nice ribbing, unlike the other hand creams from L’Occitane. A great plus point, if you have a penchant for things beautiful.

SHEA BUTTER SHEA APRICOT SOLIDARITY SOAP, $5.50 (50g) Limited Edition

This apricot-scented solidarity soap is made with shea butter to gently cleanse the skin.

How to use?

1 On damp skin, create a soft foam by rubbing the soap between your palms

2 Gently massage the lather onto your skin

Beauty Tips

1. Fragrance your clothes the natural and traditional way. Simply leave a bar of soap in your drawers and wardrobes!
2. Moisturise your hands after washing them to keep them nourished and protected, especially if the water from your tap has a high limestone content.
3. Use soap to clean your make-up brushes. Wet a cloth and rub some soap onto it, then swipe the brushes back and forth on the cloth until clean. Rinse thoroughly.
4. For those who enjoy gardening, put several pieces of soap in a stocking, tie a knot, and hang it near your outdoor tap. That way, you'll always have your soap on hand.

REVIEW

I like the fresh apricot scent of this bar soap. It has a subtle tangy touch that refreshes the senses. I used it on driest part of my legs which usually itches after using drying shower gels. The verdict is there is no itch or skin discomfort. My skin was as comfortable as can be even half an hour after shower. It leaves a very subtle lingering scent or almost undetectable scent on the skin.

This range is also great for dry weathers in countries experiencing four seasons and lower humidity. The packaging is light and will not take up much of your luggage allowance.

REVIEW/VALENTINE'S Valentine's Spa treat that left me more youthful looking for the rest of the week

I experienced the #IkedaSpa #Valentine'sDay spa treat at their #ClarkeQuay outlet, Ikeda Spa Prestige and loved it.

REVIEW
The 30-minute white cocoa body scrub and 30-minute Red Rose bath dip that followed quickly dissolved every knotted muscles and tightness on my shoulders and upper back, while the scrub removed dead skin cells and helped maximise benefits of the minieralised onsen water during the soak. The dark chocolate body massage was so deliciously luxurious, it left me in a great mood. And I have to report that the dark chocolate massage didn't leave me walking out covered in visible chocolate coating my skin. In fact, I could only detect a faint chocolatey aroma and I didn't attract any ants even after going to bed without taking a rinse at all. Wink* Bliss.

The benefits of this soak is beyond just relaxed body and mood. In fact, I decided to have a hair cut that day, and I received compliments from my regular hairstylist about how youthful and fresh I looked. After receiving his compliments, of course I took a closer look at my complexion, indeed I appeared rested, my skin was glowing, more refined and seemed firmer for the next few days. And did I tell you that I didn't touch up my foundation or makeup after the treatment?

Why it's Great:
